About Us
Jam Tse Dhargyey Ling (Translated from Tibetan: Centre from which Love and Compassion flourishes) is a Tibetan Buddhist Centre in the Mahayana (Gelug) tradition, and was founded in 1997 by Venerable Thupten Tulku Rinpoche.
There are three resident monks living here all from Sera Je Monastery in Southern India: Venerable Geshe Sangey Thinley (Geshe-la), Venerable Geshe Jamyang Sherab (Master at Sand Mandala construction) and Venerable Karma Gyaltsay (primarily Geshe-la's attendant and cook and Sand Mandala monk in training).
Also living at the centre is Venerable Ani Jampa Tsekyi - an English Tibetan Buddhist nun
We
offer a
regular teaching programme and
retreats from Geshe-la and
a
special teaching programme from visiting lamas and western teachers.
Traditional Buddhist teachings given by Geshe-la are in Tibetan and translated into English.
Jam Tse Dhargyey Ling is run by a Board of Trustees, whose responsibility it is to assist and guide the centre in its growth, so that it can fulfill its name.
The Centre is dependant on the support of sponsors, members, volunteers and the Himalayan Trading Post shop.
There is also fundraising to support the centre, like the annual Himalayan Banquet, and specific projects like the construction of an Enlightenment Stupa (Peace Monument), a Gompa (Meditation Hall), Retreat Facilities, a Health Centre and Hospice.
The Centre provides a digital Dharma Newsletter with transcribed teachings, information, about Buddhist practices and the upcoming events.
