Piritahi Marae will once again be hosting Tibetan Buddhist monks in constructing the Tibetan Sand Mandala of the Medicine Buddha.
The Mandala is constructed out of fine grains of coloured sand and is an ancient Tibetan Buddhist ritualistic art.
The event is being offered free of charge to the community – and everyone is invited and most welcome to come along and be a part of the ceremonies – or come along and watch the monks as they work and the mandala slowly takes shape.

Donations are very much appreciated – all donations offered and collected will be going directly towards covering the cost of hosting the event.

We are also needing help with volunteers – supporting the monks in the room, assistance with cooking and food donations, and volunteers to help with merchandise sales etc – do message or get in touch if you are able to help out.

Nov 2 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Ven. Geshe Sangey Thinely (Geshe-la) our resident spiritual teacher will give teachings on Thirty-Seven Teachings which will be translated through Skype by Anton Weiersmuller, Auckland.

These teachings are available to ALL of those who wish to come along – one does not have to be Buddhist to attend or benefit from these practical instructions. The teachings are also available (for a limited number) via skype.

The Thirty-Seven Practices where written in the Fourteenth century by Gyelsay Togmay Sangpo. “Recognizing their true potential and letting go of everything which could hinder them on their spiritual journey, Bodhisattvas entrust themselves to the path taught by the Buddha. Resisting disturbing emotions, they learn to respond to difficult situations in a constructive way. Fully understanding the nature of reality and the illusion-like nature of pleasure and pain, they overcome clinging attachment and aversion. In these ways, Bodhisattvas come to cherish living beings as the source of all happiness and are ultimately able to work solely for the good of all.” Geshe Sonam Rinchen.

By learning these practices it is possible for us to see how we can transform our actions, feelings and ways of thinking.
