It is with great pleasure that we invite you to come along and participate and share in our very special celebrations at Jam Tse Dhargyey Ling on the weekend of the 4th to the 6th October.

HONOURING OUR PRECIOUS SANGHA
We are celebrating and honouring the wonderful 20 years that our resident Spiritual Teacher Ven. Geshe Sangey Thinley ~(((Geshe-la)))~ has dedicated to us all during his time in New Zealand and everything that this encompasses.
We are also celebrating and honouring all of our root teachers including the late Ven. Geshe Ngawang Dhargyey, the late Thupten Rinpoche and Lhagon Rinpoche, YOU and all of our friends and precious dharma community at large.

YOUR PERSONAL HEARTFELT INVITATION
We have invited and will be hosting many of our very special and close Sangha friends from across New Zealand for this event, and warmly invite and welcome every single person that has been a part of this journey – WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU – please join us to join us for this most auspicious occasion.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Friday 4th – 6pm shared WELCOME dinner at the Centre

Saturday 5th
7:30am to 8:30am – Meditation at the Stupa
9:30am to 12:30pm – Long Life Ceremony
12:30pm – Shared Lunch at the Retreat House (bring a vegetarian dish to share)
3pm to 4pm – Chenrezig Ceremony for Compassion
6pm – Buffet Dinner & speeches at local restaurant $55 a head (email dharmanewzealand@gmail.com to book your seat)

Sunday 6th
7:30am to 8:30am – Meditation at the Stupa
10am to 11:30am – Tara Ceremony
12pm – Shared Lunch at the Retreat House (bring a vegetarian dish to share)
Afternoon outing depending on weather
6pm – Dinner at the local Indian $25 per head

BILLETS
We are also asking that our local community extend a hand and offer accommodation to our visiting friends if you are able – and if you are visiting and need to be billeted – please let us know so that we can connect everyone up.

We will be booking several members of the Sangha at the Discovery Settlers hotel in town, and they have reasonable prices if you would like to stay there too:
$99 for a single and two tiers for twin: $119 or $129

COSTS
All of the events at the Buddhist Centre for the weekend are being offered free of any charge. There is a charge for the dinners and for the commemoration booklet which all need to be booked and paid for in advance.

DINNERS
We need firm bookings from you if you are planning to join for either or both the dinners – as we need to book and pay for these ahead of time.
Saturday 5th @ 6pm at Discovery Settlers in Hatea Drive at $55 per person.
Sunday 6th @ Kamo Shiraz at $25 per person.

Please make a payment to our account for this, and place the words ‘banquet’ and how many people you are booking for. If you would like to sponsor a sangha meal, or a portion of a sangha meal – add this to the amount let us know by email.

COMMEMORATION PRAYER BOOKLET
A book containing all the prayers needed for the weekend and some photos and stories is being collated and is estimated to cost $20 each. Any surplus funds generated from these will be donated to the Sangha.

OFFERINGS
We will be making extensive offerings to the Sangha during the weekend – both in the form of accommodation and financial offerings.
In addition to this we are also wishing to invite friends to maybe write a poem or a short speech, or play some music – or some form of entertainment on the nights of the dinners.

DONATIONS
Donations towards the hosting and travel costs of the Sangha and offerings for the ceremonies and organisation of this event would be appreciated and can be made into our bank account or brought to the centre. All tax deductible.

Guru Tsog Puja Ceremony for positve energy

Guru Tsog Puja Ceremony for positive energy
This is an offering ceremony to create much needed positive energy or merit in our lives.

Based on the lunar calendar, the practice of Guru or Tsog Offering is performed at the centre at least twice a month.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend this ritual of making extensive offerings to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and our teachers, accumulating the positive energy needed to progress along the spiritual path.
The Guru Puja text (called Lama Chopa text).

Lama is the Tibetan word for Guru, and Chopa is the Tibetan word for offering. Participants can bring food or flowers as offerings. The ritual and offering takes approximately one hour.

One can sponsor a Puja to clear away obstacles for oneself or someone else. Please contact us at dharmanewzealand(@)gmail.com if you are interested in sponsoring a Puja.

Sunday teachings with Geshe-la at the Buddhist Centre

Each Sunday our resident spiritual teacher Ven. Geshe Sangey Thinley – fondly known as ‘Geshe-la’ gives a teaching and spiritual advice based on a life time of training and knowledge.

All Welcome

These teachings are open to anyone who wishes to attend. You do not have to be Buddhist.
Classes are translated through Skype by Anton Weiersmuller.

If you are a student of Geshe-las, or known by him, teachings can also be attended through Skype for those wishing to attend from a distance.

We also have a face book page which you can request becoming a member of, we try and have the teachings shown live on this page also.

After the teachings there is time for questions and a cup of tea.

We have made a heart felt request that our resident spiritual teacher: Ven. Geshe Sangey Thinley teach the Lam Rim on Thursday nights and he has kindly agreed.

This is a special opportunity for us to receive teachings from a genuine master of Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy.
Geshe-la will be using the Lam Rim written by Pabongka Rinpoche – Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand. Geshela has emphasised that he will likely move around in the subject areas of the text.

If you have this text please bring it with you. For those who don’t have it, we will have a few copies that can be purchased for cash at the centre. There are also copies at our shop Himalayan Trading Post. If you would like us to hold a copy please email us at dharmanewzealand(at) gmail.com.

The classes are open to all – beginners, non Buddhists – and Buddhists alike – and will continue through out the year – all welcome.

Introduction to Meditation

Meditation is such a wonderful gift we can give ourselves on the path to learning how to have a more peaceful calm mind and heart, bringing benefit to oneself and others by developing mindfulness in daily life.

In this course you will be taught some of the first steps to help you to develop and meditation practice.

Class consists of short meditations followed by lots of discussions.
